Is Morrissey about to run to succeed Boris Johnson? Iconic yet outspoken musical icon Morrissey is "seriously considering" running for City Hall, following a request from the Animal Welfare Party.

Morrissey, himself a prominent advocate of vegetarianism and animal rights, was asked to enter the race by the animal welfare group to enter the race.

And on the website True to You, which Morrissey uses to speak to the world, it is said: "Morrissey would require 330 signatures of support in order to enter the race, and is considering the contest very seriously."

"There must be a governmental voice against the hellish and archaic social injustice allotted to animals in the United Kingdom simply because those animals do not speak English, otherwise millions of very caring citizens are greatly concerned about issues that no one is able to do anything about," Morrissey wrote.

That's prompted Betway to offer odds of 6/4 on Morrissey just running, and 250/1 to become to next Mayor of London.

In fact, the bookmaker reckons it isn't inconceivable that the former The Smiths frontman could end up ahead of Ukip candidate Peter Whittle, a wager which they offer at 14/1.
